Betty Griffin House is asking that an artist obtain a shoe from a “local” celebrity for $100 and turn it into a work of art. That’s right; a shoe that has been turned into a piece of art. The shoes will then become part of a silent auction on display from April 12-19,

The “Celebrity Shoe-In” silent auction will begin with a reception on Saturday April 12, 2008, from 6 – 9 pm.You can bid on and potentially win your favorite “local” Celebrity’s shoe.Come and browse all the shoes on display before they walk away!
Proceeds from the “Celebrity Shoe-In” will allow Betty Griffin House to continue providing these life saving services.

Come have a “Taste of the Beach”!The St. Augustine Beach Civic Association is sponsoring the 3rd Annual “Taste of theBeach” to be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the St. Augustine Pier and Pavilion from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.Many fine restaurants at the beach and within the beach community will be featured.
Participating restaurants* will be serving in the pavilion at St. AugustineBeach. More than a dozen island restaurants will be participating.Tickets will be sold for $1 to guests to be used to purchase taste size portions. Each restaurant will individually decide on pricing per taste (between $1 and $3), and there will be a wide variety of “tastes” on display for guests.In addition, Joe Witiaz & Friends, a jazz combo will entertain from 12pm till 3 pm. Deaux Oh, an easy listening duet, will play from 3pm till 6pm.Sodas, water, beer and wine will be available for sale.
There will be celebrity judges helping to decide which restaurant has the “Best Appetizer; Best Dessert and Best Entrée".Of course the restaurant to be named the “Judges Choice” will also be decided by our celebrity judges. The Community will vote for the “People’s Choice.”The winners will be awarded their trophies near the end of the event.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to support Betty Griffin House, the Center serving victims of Domestic and Sexual Abuse in St. JohnsCounty.
